Amelia Cohen-Levy


Amelia Cohen-Levy is currently pursuing her Master's of Fine Arts in Poetry at American University. She received her B.A. in English with an emphasis in Poetry from Mills College in Oakland, California,where she served as a Teacher's Assistant for a college level poetry class while at Mills College, where she led in-class exercises, gave personalized feedback, and lectured. She has worked extensively in college writing centers, both in California and at American University, where she helped students with composition and grammar. She has worked as a Mad Scientist in Houston, teaching Science classes for students in grades K-5. Also, she has been a private Bar/ Bat Mitzvah tutor since 1992, helping her Grades 5-7 students to prepare for both the reading and chanting of Hebrew as well as the writing and delivery of speeches. Her favorite writers include Pablo Neruda, Tennessee Williams, and William Wordsworth.
